HISTORY : Let me first through light upon its history. In the 16th century Mizo tribes first migrated to Jampui hill and they were called ‘kuki' or Halam by the citizens of Tripura. Later Jampui hills were captured by chief tribes of Mizo community. But in the 1800s most of the Mizo tribes left out Jampui hills because of a terrific disease called ‘Zawnghri' which wrecked citizens at an alarming rate. But after sometimes conditions came under control and very soon Mizo community again settled to Jampui hills. Maybe it’s all because this place is very favorable for them.

And then the king of Tripura crowned two chieftains of Mizo tribes DokhumaSailo and Hrangvunga as kings of Jampui hills. Nearly in the year 1920 the last group of Mizo tribes finalized in Jampui hills. From the very beginning of the 20th century Mizo tribes peacefully settled down in Jampui hills permanently.
